Addressed with documentation of Nora’s rescue and recovery.

In 2019, a young woman known publicly as "Nora" escaped years of abuse and exploitation before surviving a brutal attack that left her permanently injured. Through the support of Victor Marx, Eileen Marx, All Things Possible, House of Refuge Cambodia, medical professionals, and local law enforcement, Nora received emergency medical care, protection, counseling, legal assistance, and long-term support.

Nora was taken for three life-saving surgeries. When her attacker learned she lived, he sent three people to kill her; the team lead moved Nora to a different floor and posted armed guards. A long legal effort followed to obtain an arrest warrant. In September 2020, Victor and Eileen Marx reported the capture of Nora’s attacker after over a year of pursuit.

Nora recounts her attack to Chuck Holton

Holton recounted meeting Nora in Phnom Penh: a girl from a small village who was kidnapped at age 14 by a leading man of the village and held as a sex slave for eight years. At 22, when she refused to obey him, he tried to kill her by pulling her off a motorcycle by her hair, pouring acid on her face and eye, cutting her hand, and stepping on her arm. She acted dead, and he left her. She survived.

Nora shares her story with Holly D. and Victor for All Things Possible

The original article described Nora as born into poverty, one of five children, orphaned after her parents died, and abused when small. A man who had stalked her for years poured battery acid on her face, tried to chop her head off, and left her for dead. Nora blocked the attack and lost a hand.

When Holly told Victor about Nora, his first emotion was anger at the evil. He prayed, mobilized the ATP community for prayer, raised money for the specialized need, and arranged protection, security, and legal counsel to pursue justice.

Nora’s Attacker Arrested

Victor and Eileen Marx reported the capture of Nora’s attacker after over a year of pursuit. Nora was described as an orphan in Cambodia where ATP has a safe house. Using a specialized Cambodian and American team, the attacker was captured. When Nora saw the capture video, she cried for about 10 minutes in relief.

Through All Things Possible, Nora received a prosthetic arm and continues to live and help at ATP House of Refuge in Cambodia. In a recent video Nora said, "Victor and Eileen Marx saved my life."
